Administering Cisco Qos for IP Networks

Before going to the discussion of the Book Administering Cisco QoS for IP Networks I just want to let you know a little bit about the Quality of Service or also called QoS.

We have three models regarding Quality of service

The first one is the default model called the Best-effort service model Second one that we will discuss is the Integrated services model and the third is the Differentiated services

Best-effort service model

At the initial level internet ensures the delivery service of packets on the basis of best effort. It is a default mode for all types of traffic. There is no priority level for any type of traffic. An example of it is we use standard mail service.
The advantages of this model are it is highly scalable and not required any special mechanisms.
But the disadvantage is that there is no service guarantee and you cannot differentiate in service.

Integrated services model

It is an older model of QoS described as a signaling process. An individual flow request for the already reserved bandwidth and delay by the network is needed by it for flow.
Resource reservation protocol also called RSVP is used in this model for reserving the bandwidth and also for QoS tools for a particular flow.
Due to some limitations if it is already reserved then other traffic cannot use it this is the reason this model is not scalable. Another thing regarding the configuration is that you need to do admin configuration separately on the router for each flow.

The differentiated services model

It is designed to break the boundary of limitations of best-effort and integrated service models. Traffic on this network is identified by the class and the network's QoS policy ensures that traffic classes are discriminated against. For each class level of service need to choose. This model is highly scalable and many levels of quality are possible in it. But some disadvantages are still there. There is no absolute service guarantee and its mechanisms are also complex.

The main topics discussed in this book

IP Quality of Service also called QoS and implementation of QoS in Enterprise and Internet Service Provider (ISP) environments. If you want to implement the routing protocols and Quality of Service mechanisms in your Cisco network devices, this book will provide you the detail with examples and exercises to get hands-on experience and sound knowledge all about mentioned above.

The impact of QoS in our business is that it will make sure the delivery of the right information which is most important to the bottom-line success of the business. The impact of QoS in our business is that it will make sure the delivery of the right information which is most important to the bottom-line success of the business. QoS set the priority level as per the requirement for mission-critical and non-critical applications. It provides the best network resources to the mission-critical application according to their tasks.

Stealing the Networks How to Own the Box

The book is not there to guide you about the installation, configuration, updating, troubleshooting, and defending book. It is not like other books about hacking. Then the question is what kind of this book is? There are a series of science fiction short stories in it about unauthorized access to someone else equipment and information or Refusing to use these resources to connect with those who want to access them. The book wrote in the conversation style. A series of 25 – 30 page chapters are written from the attacker's perspective who wants to access someone else system.

Cisco Network Magic

Cisco Network Magic Suite
Network Magic is a network management suite introduced by Cisco. This tool will help in various tasks like connecting and sharing computers, printers across a network. By using this suit, we can control and monitor the internet accessing of computers while they are on the same network. It also has the connection repairing features it diagnoses the problem in connection and then repairs it, it manages the network to provide the optimized performance, and many more. It runs in the background and indicates when it found the connection of a new device on the same network in this way it manages the active connections and controls the user and secures the network from intruders.

Some of the Main Features:

  • It will help you to connect your devices together rapidly.
  • It will allow you to share internet connections, printers, and data files.
  • It will protect your network with enhanced capabilities of WPA security and status update alerts.
  • It will keep you online by repairing your network and Internet connections if required.
  • It controls user access to the internet and keep the track of the online activity of the user computer with remote desktop screenshots.

Networking

What is Networking

A Group of two or more computers linked together is called a network. We have different types of computer networks as per their nature of work, connectivity design, and area of coverage.

Types of Network:

LAN (Local Area Network)

In this type of network, computers are connected with each other locally means they are placed geographically close to each other it could be a floor of a building or a building. Click for more detail...

WAN (WIDE AREA NETWORK) -

Computers are widely separated and connected by telephone lines or radio waves. It covers a relatively larger geographical area or you can say that It spread around the Word.

CAN (Campus Area Network) -

Computers are located in a limited geographic area, for example, on a campus. It could be a single building or buildings of the same campus location at the same place near to each other.

MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) -

A data transmission network is dedicated to a city or city.

Han (Home Area Network) -

A network in a user's home that connects a person's digital devices.

Computer Network

There are some other characteristics on basis of them we can categorize different types of networks:

On the basis of Topology –

It is the physical and virtual arrangement of computers and other network-based devices like printers, scanners, etc. Some of the names of different Networks on basis of their topology are Bus Topology, Star Topology, Ring Topology.

Protocol –

Network types can also be differentiated on the basis of protocol that is used in it, a most popular protocol is Ethernet, and the network called Ethernet Network another protocol that is used for computers is token-ring and as per its name, the network is called token-ring network or token-ring topology.

Architecture –

On basis of network architecture, the network could classify as a peer-to-peer network or client/server network.
